Ian Anderson
What motivated you to start DJing/presenting?
I’ve been motivated by music from as long as I can remember – I grew up in the 60’s had my own band and listen to music all the time….almost obsessed by it and love music trivia and tracks and artists that fly under the radar. Been to countless concerts and have a strong leaning to play artists live tracks…..which truly demonstrates their talents. I did an interview on radio for a DJ for his live show and was asked to play my Top 5 tracks ever together with an interview with me…..he was astounded that I’d never presented a music show before, in his words ‘you really know how to present music’…..
What styles do you play?
I play what I’d call rock/pop classics and as previously mentioned – tracks/artists that have either flown under the radar or people have forgotten…..I come up with throwing in tracks that just surprise people – playing tracks by Cedric Burnside Project, Brent Johnson, Teddy Thompson etc…..most people don’t know these artists. My genre is pop/rock classics….I don’t do disco, trance, soul etc., its just not me and I don’t know enough about it to be honest.
Do you mix or scratch or both? Or are you more of a presenter?
Just a presenter
Do you play on just one of danceradiouk.com’s stations or both?
Just Box UK
Outside of danceradiouk.com, who are your favourite DJ’s, bands or music artists and how have they influenced your style (if they have)?
I had a small local band in the 60’s, so of course influenced early on by the Stones, Beatles, Kinks, The Who etc etc…..and now Coldplay, Pink Floyd, Genesis, Fleetwood Mac, Clapton, EJ, Quo, AC/DC etc., but also Roy Orbison, Ed Sheeran, Paul Rodgers, Bob Marley, Journey, Foreigner……
What other interests do you have besides DJing/presenting on the radio?
I’m an entrepreneur – so into anything….I’ve had a Night Club in Puerto Banus, Marbella, written a book and been a Football Agent.
Favourite things?
