What motivated you to start DJing/presenting?

The love of music. From the age of 7, I used to wire up 2 stereo systems at home and play records on both fading in on 1 stereo whilst fading out on the other. Then I started hearing 2 songs played together at the same time, beat matched – I wanted to get involved and at the age of 15 purchased my first pair of turntables.

What styles do you play?

In my own time, I play all different styles, which is why I am involved with both Box and Dance UK stations.
In clubs, I prefer to play DNB/Jungle. I used to DJ in nightclubs in Birmingham, but hated that when you did a party set and you didn’t play someone’s favourite – they came to have a drunken moan and wanted it playing now! (Sorry love, “I Will Survive” will not fit in to the new 90’s chart selection).

Do you mix or scratch or both? Or are you more of a presenter?

I mix and scratch – I mix my tunes whilst scratching my bollocks. Who said men can’t multitask! I could never get the trigger finger going at the right time with scratching, coordination of moving the record and the crossfader at different speeds seemed impossible.

Do you play on just one of danceradiouk.com’s stations or both?

I have played on many internet radio stations, some very popular ones, but once I found Dance UK/Box UK, there was only one station for me. I started on Dance UK only, but now have a regular slot on both Dance UK and Box UK.

Outside of danceradiouk.com, who are your favourite DJ’s, bands or music artists and how have they influenced your style (if they have)?

Favourite DJ’s – I love the old DJ Hype, Andy C – I say Old because I don’t like the stuff they play today. How have they influenced me? Well they have tried to do ‘something different’ which is where I got the idea of mashups of rnb/dnb etc. I LOVE Madonna, liking the Pet Shop Boys productions too. The list could go on and on.

What other interests do you have besides DJing/presenting on the radio?

I enjoy hill walking, cycling, camping, photography – most things outdoors. I also enjoy a nice ale or two!

Favourite things?

Music, my kids, my life!

Sum yourself up in a sentence?

Joker, music lover, up for a laugh … most of all, a dedicated father.

Your desert island discs?

Enigma MCMXC AD – a must for everyone’s collection. Also, Always Look on the Bright Side of Life.

Anything else?

Big massive shout to all the DJ’s and staff at danceradiouk.com for making this happen – keep it dance!
